Member Representation by Interest Group and Community (IG&C)
Interest Groups and Communities (IG&C) are a catalyst for member activities and are an excellent way to engage with SMS. The 12 Interest Groups are organized to recognize major streams of practice and research. The 2 Communities focus on providing resources and a forum for members to advance their skills.

BEHAVIORAL STRATEGY
The Behavioral Strategy Interest Group sponsors research that applies related behavioral and social science disciplines to strategic management theory and practices.
Competitive Strategy
The Competitive Strategy Interest Group focuses on questions concerning firms and their interactions within product and factor markets over time.


Cooperative Strategies
Cooperative Strategies Interest Group focuses on issues related to cooperative strategies at the functional, business, corporate, group, and network levels of analysis
Corporate Strategy
The Corporate Strategy Interest Group considers the actions associated with changing the firm's scope and profile of business lines including vertical integration, mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, corporate diversification strategy/organization, implementation, and performance.


Entrepreneurship and Strategy
The Entrepreneurship and Strategy Interest Group focuses on entrepreneurial behavior both in new ventures and established organizations.
Global Strategy


Knowledge and Innovation
The Knowledge & Innovation Interest Group focuses on how managers can best leverage the knowledge base of their organizations in order to build competitive advantages for their firms.
Research Methods
The Research Methods Community fosters advances in research methods and serves as a resource for members to advance their own methodology skills.


Stakeholder Strategy
The Stakeholder Strategy Interest Group promotes scholarship that embraces a multi-stakeholder perspective of firm strategy, its antecedents, its boundaries, roles, and values, and its diverse forms of impact and performance.
Strategic Human Capital
The Strategic Human Capital Interest Group promotes research that sheds light on the role of human capital resources in unit and firm performance. This includes research related to the direct antecedents and outcomes of mobility, development, emergence, and deployment associated with human capital resources.


Strategic Leadership & Governance
The Strategic Leadership and Governance Interest Group focuses on leaders who are the top management teams that formulate strategies to create firm value and organization governance for the incentive mechanisms that align the interests of managers with those of the suppliers of capital.
Strategy Practice
The Strategy Practice Interest Group is an inclusive community that provides a space for engagement and the sharing of ideas among strategy academics as well as professionals and managers that make strategic decisions.


Strategy Process
The Strategy Process Interest Group examines how strategies are envisioned, implemented, changed, and governed– be it via deliberate or emergent processes.
Teaching
The Teaching Community provides a forum to help improve the classroom effectiveness of researchers who teach strategy.
