Travel Information

By Air:

The closest airport to Banff is the Calgary International Airport (YYC). A modern and relatively uncrowded facility, the airport handles most major airlines from around the world with daily non-stop and direct flights. You will need to take ground transportation from the airport to Banff in order to arrive at the Rimrock Resort Hotel.

Ground Transportation to Banff:

The best option for door-to-door transportation from the Calgary International Airport directly to the Rimrock Resort Hotel is the Banff Airporter. The Banff Airporter is offering a 15% discount for all conference guests with the use of a discount code (“SMSBANFF2017”), which lowers the price to CA$54.00 One Way and CA$108.00 Return. Bookings can be made online (www.banffairporter.com) or over the phone (888-449-2901). Please see their website for more information concerning the bus schedule, as well as the availability of private town cars (seats 3) and SUVs (seats 5).

By Train:

Unfortunately, regular passenger trains no longer stop at Banff's historic train station, however, the Rocky Mountaineer train that covers the Kicking Horse Route from Vancouver to Calgary stops in Banff, where passengers may disembark.  This is a great option for anyone looking to extend their visit further into western Canada.

Travel around Banff:

Guests of the Rimrock Resort Hotel are provided with complimentary passes for Banff’s Public Transit Service, Roam Transit. Two bus lines operate between the Rimrock Resort Hotel and the Banff townsite. Route 1 (Sulphur Mountain) has service every 20-30 minutes from 6:15 am to 10:55 pm. Route 4 (Cave & Basin) operates only on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and statutory holidays, with hourly service from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm. The trip between the Banff townsite and the Rimrock Resort Hotel takes about 10 minutes, depending on the route.
