Our hearts are broken for the many victims who were injured or lost their lives during the unconscionable mass shooting that occurred on October 1, 2017. All those involved with Strategic Management Society extend our condolences and support to those affected by this event. We look forward to hosting the 2019 Special Conference in Las Vegas.

Welcome from the Program Chairs

Dear Colleagues,

It gives us great pleasure to invite you to join us for the SMS Special Conference Las Vegas in March, 2019. We are excited to welcome you to this world-famous city, where our goal is to provide you with a superb professional and personal experience.

In keeping with the conference theme – “From Isolation to Integration in the C-Suite: Consolidating our Gains in Strategic Leadership Research” – this event will provide a unique opportunity for scholars from both within and outside strategic management to come together in order to share ideas, discuss opportunities, initiate research projects, and consider questions related to strategic leadership and corporate governance from a range of different perspectives. We have several practitioner panels planned, comprising current and former senior executives, and a number of events directly targeted toward integrating micro- and macro-oriented scholarship. We particularly welcome proposals focused on these types of cross-level and cross-disciplinary integration. Conference attendees will also have the opportunity to attend keynote presentations by some of the most influential scholars in this area of research.

The main conference site will be the attractively-located Bally’s Las Vegas hotel, which neighbors the renowned Bellagio fountains. We invite you to extend your trip either before or after the conference to take advantage of some of the many popular attractions in and around the city. Attendees will be spoiled for choice, with access to museums, shopping, golf, and live performances such as Cirque du Soleil, Blue Man Group, and Penn & Teller. Both man-made and natural wonders are never far away, including Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon. Las Vegas welcomed more than six millions conference and convention delegates last year, and provides unsurpassed convenience and entertainment. Late March is an especially attractive time to visit Las Vegas, with clear, sunny days and average highs around 70 degrees Fahrenheit (21 degrees Celsius).

We hope to see you in Vegas!
