Marc Krautzberger is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Strategy at the University of Edinburgh Business School. His research centers on how organizations manage competing demands—such as ecological vs. economic imperatives or short-term vs. long-term considerations—in strategy processes, innovation and change processes, and in response to societal challenges. He is particularly interested in managing competing demands in strategizing and innovation processes for systemic change towards a more sustainable society. He integrates organization theory (paradox theory, practice theory, and systems theory) with qualitative research methods. His work has been published in journals such as Strategic Organization and the Journal of Management Inquiry. He was a visiting scholar at the chair of Professor Ann Langley at HEC Montréal. Before his academic career, Marc worked as a management consultant for energy suppliers, where he developed inter-organizational, corporate, business, and divisional strategies. He studied sociology with a focus on the interplay between various risks—such as technological, environmental, financial, and political—and the organization of society. He earned his Ph.D. at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, Germany, under the supervision of Professor Ulrich Beck.
