Dr. Jenna R. Pieper is the Donald and Shirley Clifton Chair in Organizational Behavior and an Associate Professor of Management at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She earned her Ph.D. in Management and Human Resources from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an M.A. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the University of Tulsa. Dr. Pieper’s research in strategic human resource management, compensation, recruitment, and workplace diversity drives new understanding of how these critical areas impact organizational performance and employee outcomes.
Her scholarship is widely recognized and published in prestigious journals such as Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Journal of Management, and Human Resource Management. Dr. Pieper has earned multiple honors, including the Academy of Management’s HR Division’s Best Dissertation Award, Scholarly Achievement Award, Service Award, and International Scholarly Achievement Award.
Since joining UNL in 2012, Dr. Pieper has held pivotal leadership roles, including Chair of the Promotion and Tenure Committee and Ph.D. Coordinator, while serving on numerous faculty search and college committees. Her leadership extends beyond UNL, as she has significantly contributed to the HR Division of the Academy of Management, serving as Treasurer, Executive Committee member, and chair of the Awards Committee. She has also served as a Representative-at-Large for the Strategic Human Capital Interest Group at the Strategic Management Society (SMS).
Dr. Pieper’s commitment to academic service is evident in her roles on the editorial boards of leading journals and her dedication to mentoring the next generation of scholars through her work with doctoral students. A passionate educator, she teaches Strategic Human Resource Management and Compensation across undergraduate, MBA, and Ph.D. programs, shaping the future of HRM with every class she leads.
