Miguel is a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the Department of Management & Technology at Bocconi University. He is affiliated with CESifo, LEAP, ICRIOS, and CEPR. Before joining Bocconi, he was an Assistant Professor at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, following the completion of his PhD at LSE under the supervision of Luis Garicano.

Miguel’s research focuses on Organizational Economics and Strategic Human Capital. Key topics in his work include vertical integration, poaching, training, relational contracting, communication, and knowledge hierarchies. While some of his research examines relationships between organizations, much of it seeks to uncover what happens within organizations—the so-called “visible hand.”

He is particularly interested in how organizations leverage the diverse skills of managers and subordinates to achieve superior performance. To address his research questions, he employs large administrative datasets, machine learning methods, and within-organization experiments.

His work has been published in Econometrica and Management Science. You can find more information about Miguel here: https://espinomics.wixsite.com/mespinosa
