Our organization is unique in bringing together the worlds of reflective practice and
thoughtful scholarship. The Society consists of over 3,000 members representing a
kaleidoscope of backgrounds and perspectives from more than 80 different countries.
Membership, composed of academics, business practitioners, and consultants,
focuses on the development and dissemination of insights on the strategic management
process, as well as on fostering contacts and interchange around the world.
Throughout the year, SMS provides numerous opportunities for members to engage with others in the strategic management field.

SMJ Announces 2021 Co-Editors
The SMS Board of Directors is excited to announce the appointment of Vibha Gaba and Brian Silverman as new Strategic Management Journal Co-Editors. Vibha and Brian are current SMJ Associate Editors. Vibha is a Professor of Entrepreneurship at INSEAD, and Brian is a Professor of Strategic Management at the Rotman School of Business at University of Toronto.
Vibha and Brian will begin their terms in January 2021 and will work with continuing Co-Editors Rajshree Agarwal and Sendil Ethiraj.

SEJ Announces 2021 Co-Editors
The SMS Board of Directors is excited to announce the appointment of Peter Klein as a Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal Co-Editor. Klein is a Professor of Entrepreneurship at Baylor University’s Hankamer School of Business. He has served two terms as an SEJ Associate Editor and is a Guest Editor for the journal’s upcoming Special Issue on Policy for Innovative Entrepreneurship.
We are also pleased that Melissa Graebner has been reappointed to a second term as SEJ Co-Editor. Graebner, Professor of Business Administration at the University of Illinois, joined the SEJ Co-Editor team in January 2018.
Klein and Graebner will work with continuing Co-Editor Gary Dushnitsky in reviewing journal submissions, managing and assigning AEs and reviewers, developing policies, guiding the journal’s strategic direction, and more.

“Reframing Social Entrepreneurship Research: Embracing a Strategic Perspective,” interested authors should read the full Call for Submissions and submit their research by February 5, 2021.
“Leading the Digital Transformation of Incumbent Firms: A Strategic Entrepreneurship Perspective” interested authors should read the full Call for Submissions and submit their research from May 1, 2021 to July 1, 2021.
“Environmental Change, Strategic Entrepreneurial Action, and Success,” interested authors should read the full Call for Submissions and submit their research from August 1, 2021 to September 3, 2021.

Elections were open from November 2 to December 1 for SMS Members to cast their votes for members of the Board of Directors and leaders of the Interest Groups & Communities.

The promotion and encouragement of research and scholarship is another of SMS’ primary purposes. In support of this goal, the Society operates the Strategy Research Foundation (SRF) programs to award research grants to individuals or groups identified through a competitive application and review process.
