The Strategy Research Foundation (SRF) is proud to announce the appointment of Professor Olivier Chatain (HEC Paris) as the inaugural Program Director of its new Early Career Research Grant (ECRG) Program. Launched July 1, 2025, the ECRG program offers grants of up to $15,000 USD to early-career scholars seeking to advance a research project in the field of strategic management.
Professor Chatain brings extensive academic and research expertise to the role. A full professor in HEC Paris’s Strategy & Business Policy department, his work focuses on the formal and value-based foundations of strategy, including buyer–supplier relationships and strategic resource markets. Chatain has published widely in top-tier outlets and serves on various editorial boards, including the Strategic Management Journal.
In his new role, Professor Chatain will oversee the review and selection process for ECRG proposals, mentor grantees, and help shape a supportive ecosystem for early-career scholars.
The Strategic Management Society welcomes Professor Chatain as he leads the ECRG programs and furthers the SRF vision and mission of creating inclusive funding initiatives that support strategy scholars around the world in conducting rigorous and business relevant research.
