SMS is pleased to announce that the Strategy Research Foundation (SRF) is now accepting applications for its grant-funding programs. The Strategy Research Foundation aims to support scholars in advancing knowledge within the field of strategic management. The purpose of the SRF is to aid the development of scholars who generate new knowledge in the field of strategic management — knowledge that will advance the field’s theoretical foundations, conceptual views, and applications relevant to more effective management of all types of organizations. Since its founding in 2011, the SRF has provided funding to almost 150 scholars, supporting research on a variety of topics within the field.
SRF provides $150,000-200,000 USD annually to scholars in the field of strategic management. Funding from SRF programs is meant to complement additional funding sources for the research. SRF operates two competitive grant programs:
Research in Strategic Management Program (RSM)
Grant Period: Jan 1, 2025–Dec 31, 2026
Application Submission Deadline: Oct 1, 2024
The Research in Strategic Management Program (RSM) aims to support research on a revolving set of themes central to the field of strategic management. The theme for the 2023 and 2024 program cycles is “New Thinking in Corporate Strategy Research.” Grants of up to US$25,000 will be awarded through this program.

Will Mitchell Dissertation Research Grant Program (WMDRG)

Application Submission Deadline: Oct 1, 2024
The Will Mitchell Dissertation Research Grant Program provides research funding for doctoral students. Funds are intended to supplement other financial resources available to students and to support elements of their research that enhance the quality, expand the scope, augment the research design, or in some other way enrich their dissertation projects. Grants of up to US$10,000 will be awarded through this program.
