The University of Coimbra, in collaboration with the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal (SEJ), will host a paper development workshop (PDW) aimed at supporting researchers in the field of entrepreneurship in developing and publishing articles in leading scientific journals. The workshop will take place June 3, 2026 at Convento São Francisco (Almedina Room), from 10:30 am to 6:00 pm.
Early-career researchers, as well as those who have not yet published in Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, are particularly encouraged to apply. The PDW welcomes submissions on all entrepreneurship-related topics, across all levels of analysis and employing any empirical methods.
The PDW will be led by SEJ Associate Editors Marco Giarratana (IE Business School) and Pinar Ozcan (Oxford University). The program will begin with a general session on publishing in SEJ, covering topics such as what makes a successful SEJ paper and how to address the key challenges commonly encountered by editors and reviewers during the review process. Afterwards, participants will each have 10 minutes to present their research, followed by 20 minutes of developmental feedback from the editors and other participants, aimed at improving the manuscripts. The PDW will be conducted entirely in English.
The PDW is free and open to researchers and students with accepted full papers or extended abstracts. The submission deadline is March 30, 2026, and applications should be submitted using the following form.
Each participant can only submit one full paper or extended abstract. The paper submitted for consideration must be in English and unpublished. A single PDF file should be submitted, including a cover letter with the paper title, all authors’ names, e-mails, affiliations, and the indication of the author(s) panning to attend the PDW. Authors will be notified of the status of their submissions by April 30, 2026.
The PDW will be part of the Startup Capital Summit agenda and it is supported by MetaRed X Portugal – Collaborative Network of Entrepreneurship Units of Portuguese Higher Education Institutions and Centre for Business and Economics Research (CEBER).
Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs. For questions about the event, please contact the organizers Gabriela Fernandes (pro.reitora.gabriela.fernandes@uc.pt) or Pedro Torres (pedro.torres@uc.pt).
