Panelists:

Chiara Farronato is Glenn and Mary Jane Creamer Associate Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School, and co-Principal Investigatory of the Platform Lab at the Digital Data Design Institute at Harvard. Chiara is also a fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). Tobias Kretschmer is Professor of Strategy, Technology and Organization at Imperial Business School and and a part-time Professor at LMU Munich School of Management where he previously served as Head of the Institute for Strategy, Technology and Organization. Tobias’s work focuses on strategy and organization design in technology-intensive industries, especially platform markets and information and communication technologies.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Joost Rietveld is Associate Professor in Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the UCL School of Management. Joost is an expert on platform strategies and digital business models, and has conducted research across industries like video games, mobile apps, board games, and crowdfunding. He worked on Microsoft’s $69 billion acquisition of Activision-Blizzard, and was an expert witness in a class-action antitrust lawsuit involving the Steam distribution platform.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ke Rong is Professor and Director of the Institute of Economics, Tsinghua University. Ke’s research focuses on business and innovation ecosystems, the global digital economy, and artificial intelligence and data ecosystems. He serves as a researcher at Tsinghua’s National High-Level Think Tank and Vice Dean of Tsinghua’s Institute for Global Industries. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Digital Economy and Area Editor for the Journal of International Business Studies.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Yue Maggie Zhou is Professor of Strategy at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. Maggie’s recent studies investigate the use and effects of competitive strategies between firms on and off digital platforms and within technological ecosystems, as well as organizational design for domestic and multinational corporations. She is Associate Editor for Management Science and Strategic Management Journal.

Liang Chen is Associate Professor of Strategy & Entrepreneurship and Lee Kong Chian Fellow at Singapore Management University. His research focuses on competitive, innovation, and global strategies of firms in the digital economy, using such contexts as mobile ecosystems, social media, open-source communities, and knowledge crowdsourcing forums. Liang is Deputy Editor of Management and Organization Review.
