Speakers: 

Nikolaus Lang is the Global Leader of the BCG Henderson Institute, Boston Consulting Group’s think tank dedicated to exploring and developing new ideas and insights. He is also a Senior Partner and Managing Director in BCG’s Munich office. Nikolaus’s career spans over 25 years in management consulting and global strategy. He joined BCG in 1998 and has advised clients in more than 50 countries on topics such as mobility, geopolitics, trade, and international collaboration strategies. He is also currently serving as the Global Vice Chair of BCG’s Global Advantage practice, and Chair of BCG’s Center for Geopolitics, focusing on competitive dynamics in an increasingly interconnected world.

Nikolaus has published work on an array of contemporary questions, offering insight and guidance to policymakers, clients, and BCG teams on topics such as the new era of globalization, global digital transformation, geopolitics and trade impact, global R&D networks, and geopolitics of AI. Nikolaus holds an honorary professorship at the University of St. Gallen, where he bridges academic research with real-world strategy. He is also a coauthor of “Beyond Great” (PublicAffairs, 2020), which describes how the world has been transformed due to social tension, economic nationalism, and technological revolution.

At HEC-Paris, Rodolphe (Rudi) Durand is the Joly Family Professor of Purposeful Leadership and the academic director of the Purpose Center. He is the founder of the Society and Organizations Institute (S&O) which he launched in 2009. As a scholar, rudy’s primary research interests concern the normative and cognitive dimensions of firms’ performance, and especially the consequences for firms of defining their purpose and coping with the current major environmental and social challenges. As a member of Boards (in listed and private firms, in non-profit organizations), impact committee, and purpose committee (comité de mission), rudy works with multiple organizations on developing, implementing, and assessing impact strategies that value a firm’s purpose and its intangible assets. Rudy is also a prolific author of books. Most recently: “A Broader Vision of Business” coauthored with Veolia’s CEO, Antoine Frérot (Flammarion, 2022), “Strategor”, leading Strategy textbook in France (9th edition, 1st edition in English -Dunod: Paris, 2024), and forthcoming at Oxford University Press a book on “Leading with Purpose for Sustained Performance
