Join the Research Methods Community Doctoral and Junior Consortium. This interactive session brings together a panel of experts to explore how generative AI may be reshaping research in strategy and management. The session will feature brief presentations on what sets generative AI apart from other forms of AI used in the field, along with current and potential future applications for research. It will conclude with small-group discussions designed to spark dialogue, share ideas, and inspire continuous improvement in the AI-based tools we apply in our field.

Speakers:

Prithwiraj (Raj) Choudhury is the Lumry Family Associate Professor at the Harvard Business School. He was an Assistant Professor at Wharton prior to joining Harvard. His research is focused on studying the Future of Work, especially the changing Geography of Work. His research focuses on management practices that support hybrid work, remote work, and work from anywhere (WFA); how companies, communities, and countries are competing for remote workers; and how AI, automation and digital twins can help both desk workers and deskless workers work from anywhere. His research has been published in leading academic journals such as Management Science, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, The Review of Financial Studies, The Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Development Economics, Harvard Business Review. He is the author of the book ‘The World is Your Office’ and has been cited in BBC, CNBC, New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Financial Times, Freakonomics, among other outlets. In 2023, Forbes included him in the Future of Work-50 list. He is currently an Associate Editor at Management Science.

Bart Vanneste is an Associate Professor in the Strategy & Entrepreneurship group of the UCL School of Management. Bart’s research focuses on artificial intelligence and corporate strategy. He has published widely including a book titled Corporate Strategy: Tools for Analysis and Decision-Making and in prestigious journals such as Academy of Management Review, Organization Science, Strategic Management Journal, and Strategy Science. He is the Program Director of the AI for Business executive education program at the UCL School of Management. He was awarded the Management Best Teacher Award by UCL School of Management. He obtained a Ph.D. in Strategic & International Management from the London Business School and an M.Sc. in Data Science & Machine Learning from UCL, and was on the faculty of INSEAD.

Dr. Steven Hyde is an assistant Professor at Boise State. His research specializes in human-AI partnerships in research methods and strategic management. His work combines upper echelons theory with advanced computational techniques, including machine learning and natural language processing, to examine executive behavior and organizational outcomes. His research, published in the Strategic Management Journal, demonstrates how AI-driven text analysis can reveal CEO deception patterns and their effects on analyst recommendations, showcasing the practical applications of machine learning in strategic management research. Dr. Hyde’s current research portfolio includes developing frameworks for AI-assisted qualitative research methods, creating techniques for generating synthetic data, and exploring the applications of generative AI in education.
