On Saturday, April 20, 2024, the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal held highly impactful Paper Development Workshops continuing its tradition of fostering innovative research in entrepreneurship and innovation. Recognized as a leading journal in the field, SEJ is dedicated to publishing influential work that shapes the future of entrepreneurship studies.

This year’s workshops were generously sponsored by the Lam Family College of Business at San Francisco State University, with additional support from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, organized by prominent scholars Peter Klein, Matthew Mount, and Sam Garg.

SEJ’s distinguished editors, Riitta Katila (associate editor), Yong Li (co-editor), and David Sirmon (incoming co-editor), led the PDW at Lam Family College of Business at San Francisco State University. Their collective expertise and insights provided invaluable guidance to the participants.

The workshop accepted 23 research proposals, each at varying stages of development. These proposals covered a wide array of topics and came from diverse geographic backgrounds, including North America, Europe, and Asia.

The day began with the editors sharing essential information about the publishing process in SEJ, emphasizing how to navigate key challenges during the review process. This session was followed by research pitches and in-depth scholarly conversations, allowing participants to present their ideas and receive constructive feedback.

Participants expressed high appreciation for the developmental feedback provided and the unique opportunity to engage with fellow researchers. The PDW not only offered guidance on improving their work but also fostered a collaborative environment conducive to scholarly growth.

The SEJ Paper Development Workshop exemplifies the journal’s commitment to nurturing emerging research and supporting scholars in their pursuit of academic excellence.
