The Strategic Management Society seeks members to apply to serve on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee of the SMS Board of Directors. The DEI Committee will focus on monitoring and developing diversity, equity, and inclusion across all SMS program areas and publications to increase the impact of DEI efforts and to ensure consistency and alignment of actions and activities across the organization. Additionally, this Committee will spotlight the ongoing efforts around diversity, equity, and inclusion to SMS membership and the broader community.
The purpose of the Committee is to:
- Encourage and facilitate diversity in SMS membership and participation in SMS publications, programs, and activities
- Provide a forum to monitor, discuss, and address diversity issues and trends in the field
- Support the development, implementation, and codification of SMS policies, actions and initiatives related to DEI issues and trends reflective of the community at large and serve as a proactive resource for SMS programs and leadership.
Since its founding in 2021, the DEI Committee at SMS has worked on a variety of initiatives to encourage DEI throughout SMS Programs. Recent projects include the approval for a new position within Interest Group & Community Leadership for a Global Representative-at-Large in each group and establishing a recurring session at the SMS Annual Conference.
