Professor Awino Holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree, Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration from the University of Nairobi.
He is an experienced Corporate, Global and Management strategist and a scholar. With over 25 years of Post Graduate experience in Industry, Research and University teaching. He worked in the public and private sector at senior managerial positions in strategy and supply chain for 22 years in Kenya before he delved into active university teaching and research. He has served as a lecturer in various Universities in Kenya rising from a junior lecturer to a full Professor in 10 years. He has Supervised 70 Doctoral and 600 Masters Students in Strategic Management, Global Business Strategy and Supply Chain Management to full completion.
He has attended a number of conferences and presented papers in Africa, Europe, Asia and the United States of America.
His current research portfolio is in Strategy, Innovation and Performance Management.
Publications by Prof. Awino include 150 articles in refereed International Journals in Africa, Asia Canada and USA.
He has visited 80 Countries globally in pursuit of knowledge and Research in Management Studies and Practice
Prof Awino currently serves as a distinguished Professor at the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences, University of Nairobi. A Premier Business School in Africa He has inspired many Scholars and Practitioners in Strategic thinking and performance of organizations in public, Not-for-profit organizations and private sector. He has been a visiting Professor at the Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences in Germany, University of Massachusetts Lowell .He has also been a visiting Professor at the . East and Southern Africa Management Institute (ESAMI) in Malawi, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Zambia and Kenya.
He has also been the Editor in Chief of the prestigious DBA African Management Review- a reputable quarterly international journal in Africa.
As part of corporate social responsibility, Prof Awino has chaired the Board of Management of a Public Health Facility in Homa-Bay County in Kenya. Prof. Awino is married with two daughters and one son. He currently lives in Nairobi, Kenya.
