Yan “Anthea” Zhang is a professor and the Fayez Sarofim Vanguard Chair of Strategic Management at the Jones Graduate School of Business, Rice University. She has served as the Area Coordinator of the Strategy and Environment Group in the Jones School in 2013-2017. She was a Professor of Management at China Europe International Business School in 2012-2013 (on leave from Rice University). Her areas of specialization include CEO succession and corporate governance, as well as foreign direct investment and technology entrepreneurship in emerging markets. Her research has been published in top-tier business journals including the Academy of Management Journal, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Marketing, and Journal of Marketing Research, among others. She was the recipient of the 2010 Strategic Management Society Emerging Scholar Award. She is an associate editor of Strategic Management Journal and has also served as an associate editor of the Academy of Management Journal. She is currently on the board of directors of Strategic Management Society (SMS) and has also served on the board of directors of International Corporate Governance Society (ICGS).
