Dr. Victor Cui holds the Conrad Research Excellence Chair and is a Professor of Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Global Strategy at the University of Waterloo. His recent research centers on geopolitical risks, the decoupling between the U.S. and China, and the resulting global paradigm shift. Additionally, he has examined strategies for technological innovation, including incentives, R&D collaboration, and intellectual property rights (IPR) protection. His work has been published in top-tier journals such as Strategic Management Journal and Journal of International Business Studies, and has been featured in prominent media outlets like Fortune and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC).
Beyond his research contributions, Dr. Cui serves as Senior Editor for International Business Review, Management and Organization Review (MOR), and the Asia Pacific Journal of Management. He has co-edited a special issue of JIBS and serves on its editorial board. Dr. Cui has also served the community in other capacities, including Track Co-Chair for the Strategic Management Society (SMS) Conference (2023), Engagement Officer for the SMS Cooperative Strategies IG&C (2020-21), Co-Organizer of the SMS PDW on competition and cooperation (2019), and Co-Organizer of the JIBS Special Issue Workshop and Forum on IPR Protection in International Business (2019). He is currently Chair of Canada’s Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) IDG Grant Competition (2022-2024). He is looking forward to serving the SMS community more.
Dr. Cui has earned several accolades, including the Best Senior Editor Award from MOR, the Best Reviewer Award from JIBS, and best paper awards from the Academy of Management and the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada.
