Sekou Bermiss (PhD, Northwestern University) is an associate professor of management in the Kenan-Flagler Business School, at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Within the area of strategic human capital, his research explores the micro-foundations of competitive advantage by studying the antecedents and consequences of human capital mobility and their impact on a firm’s ability to compete with rivals. His research has been published in the Strategic Management Journal, Administrative Science Quarterly, Organization Science, the Academy of Management Journal, and Research in Organizational Behavior. Sekou has served in various administrative and leadership roles including Chair of the College of Organization Science (INFORMS), Rep-at-Large with the Strategic Leadership and Governance interest group (SMS), and Chair of the Strategic Human Capital interest group (SMS). He is currently an Associate Editor at the Academy of Management Journal. Before entering academia, Sekou worked as a consultant for Deloitte & Touche in New York City.
