Patia McGrath is an Assistant Professor in the Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship Department at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. Her research interests lie at the intersection of strategy execution, organizational learning, and firm innovation. One of Patia’s current projects examines the performance ramifications of the interplay between firm expansion and reduction activities. In another, she takes a fresh look at strategies for innovation monetization. Patia’s research has been published in Journal of Management, Organization Science, Research Policy, and Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal.

Patia’s teaching interests include strategy, corporate development, and management of organizational growth and change. An award-winning teacher, she now teaches in the core of RSM’s Strategic Management MSc program. Patia joined academia from industry, where she most recently worked for GE as Global Director–Innovation and Strategic Connections. Patia received her PhD in Strategy from Wharton and holds an MBA from Harvard, a MS in Aeronautics and an Engineer’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia.

Patia enjoys contributing to the academic community. At UNC, she served on its Faculty Council and Educational Policy Committee. For SMS, Patia previously served as Representative-at-Large and Engagement Officer for the Corporate Strategy IG.
