Oliver Baumann’s research focuses on organization design and corporate strategy. In particular, he addresses two broad questions: 1. How does organization design affect a firm’s ability to deal with complexity? 2. How does organization design affect a firm’s ability to learn and adapt? To address these questions, he employs a range of methods, including computational models, in-depth field studies, and experimental approaches. His work has been published in Administrative Science Quarterly, Advances in Strategic Management, Journal of Management, Organization Science, and the Strategic Management Journal. He received a PhD in Business Economics from LMU Munich, an MS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Karlsruhe, and an MS in Engineering Management from Portland State University. He is currently a Professor of Strategic Organization Design at the University of Southern Denmark. Previously, he was a visiting scholar at the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and an Assistant Professor at LMU Munich.
