Giacomo Marchesini is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Strategy and Innovation at Copenhagen Business School. Giacomo’s research focuses on the areas of innovation, behavioral strategy, and social dynamics. For instance, he studies how organizations deal with failures to accomplish breakthrough discoveries, what drives firms’ search process, how are breakthrough ideas unusual, and the role of social dynamics, like politics, and status hierarchies. He spans diverse data sources, ranging from patents and drug development to data on firms’ political activity and sports data. He holds a Ph.D. degree in Management from IESE Business School (2023). Before his doctoral studies, he earned degrees in economics and management of innovation from Bocconi University and he worked as a consultant in various areas of risk management, strategy, and innovation, for various multinational companies. His work has been published in the Academy of Management Journal and presented at several management conferences, including the Strategic Management Society Annual Conference, the Academy of Management Annual Meeting, and DRUID.
