Following my psychology diploma and certification as an Industrial Psychologist (European Association of Work and Organizational Psychology), I gained experience at consulting firms across the DACH region. I then completed my part-time PhD in Entrepreneurship (awarded with distinction) from Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) before joining the Energy and Strategy Think Tank (ESTT) at WU’s Institute for Strategic Management (ISM) as a Postdoctoral Researcher in 2021. At ESTT, we address the grand challenges of the energy transition, collaborating with Austria’s largest energy utilities on business model innovation and circular economy strategies. In 2023, I became Assistant Professor at ISM. My research explores how cognition and communication affect entrepreneurial and strategic action. Drawing on theories like RBV, performative communication, and framing, my work contributes to a micro-foundational understanding of strategy and strategizing in different empirical settings, from fast-growing entrepreneurial firms over incumbent firms in the automobile industry, to platform ventures launched by traditional manufacturers. My work has been published in Industrial and Corporate Change, International Journal of Management Reviews, Entrepreneurship and Regional Environment, Business Strategy & the Environment, and Research Policy.
