Frequently Asked Questions

SMS membership spans one calendar year and begins on January 1st of the year of membership. If you apply for membership after this date, you become an active member once you have completed payment for your membership dues. You will also receive any issues of the SMJ, SEJ and GSJ that have been published during the year prior to your membership.

Journals are distributed by our publisher, Wiley. You should allow 7-8 weeks for the delivery of your first journals.

No. The portion of your conference registration fees that are allocated to SMS dues for the following year of membership will be deducted from your registration fees.

Yes, two interest groups are included with your SMS membership and you can add additional Interest Groups for a fee of $10 each.

For SMS membership purposes, students are individuals who are enrolled full-time, in-residence at the PhD granting institution. Individuals can be SMS members on student status for up to 5 years. For the initial year of student status, proof of enrollment from the PhD granting institution and confirmation letter from a major professor are required.

Simply contact the SMS office to confirm you have been a member of the SMS for at least 10 years. Please keep in mind you must be at least 65 years old.
