Join us for an intensive workshop on lab experiments at Kadir Has University, in the historic Balat neighborhood on the Golden Horn, just a short hop on the M2 subway from the SMS Conference hotel.
The experimental method has enjoyed a remarkable renaissance of late. This conference extension aims to round up the latest developments in the field of strategy and organizations. We place a special focus on how experiments in our field may differ from those in others, all the while retaining methodological rigor. We welcome both students and faculty interested in debating such questions as:
What can we learn about firms by studying individuals and groups in a lab environment?
How can we use experiments to build as well as test theory about organizations?
What distinguishes experiments that aim to contribute to firm-level research?
Which methods from adjacent behavioral disciplines can help us enhance sophistication?
The plan is for a focused event, containing a mix of presentations, panels, and developmental sessions. Expert faculty will showcase the frontiers of the field and discuss the scope for lab studies in strategy. We are excited to feature:
Ido Erev, Professor of Behavioral Science at the Technion and prominent catalyst for the behavioral study of learning through experience,
Phanish Puranam, Professor of Strategy and Organisation Design at INSEAD and co-founder of the Experimental Organization Science network
Deniz Tosun, Chief Technology Officer at delivery provider HepsiJet and real-world experimenter with incentive designs for couriers
Onurcan Yilmaz, Professor of Psychology at Kadir Has University and leader of the Istanbul Moral Intuitions Laboratory
Our expert faculty also help consult on project ideas and experimental stimuli, alongside key drivers of the experimental movement in strategy, including Jerry Guo, Ozgecan Kocak, Franziska Lauenstein, Gaël Le Mens, Sheen Levine, and Massimo Warglien.
We will have coffee breaks and lunch onsite. After the close around 6pm, enjoy a walking tour to a nearby dinner location.
