Join Tobias Kretschmer (LMU Munich School of Management) and Juan Santaló Mediavilla (IE Business School) to explore past, present, and future research on this important perspective on corporate strategy. The session will be moderated by Teresa Dickler and Lisa Tang.
Tobias Kretschmer is a Professor of Strategy, Technology and Organization (ISTO) at LMU Munich School of Management and a Visiting Professor at Nova SBE in Lisbon. He holds a PhD in Economics from London Business School and an MSc in Strategy from the University of St. Gallen. Prior to joining LMU Munich, he held full-time positions at London School of Economics and INSEAD. He is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research in London and has held visiting positions at Bocconi University and University College London.
His work focuses on digital transformation in organizations and competitive strategy in digital industries, especially platform markets. Among others, his work appeared in Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Management Science, American Economic Review, Marketing Science and Information Systems Research. He has editorial positions at Strategy Science, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Industry and Innovation, and the Journal of Organization Design, is currently chair of the Organization Design Community and the Strategy Science Chapter of Informs and past Chair of the SMS K&I Interest Group.
Juan Santaló has a PhD in Economics from the University of Chicago and a Master’s in Economics from the Pompeu Fabra University. He is currently Full professor of Strategic Management at IE University. He has been a visiting professor at Bocconi University and the Booth Business School of the University of Chicago, director of the Strategy Department at IE University and director of the Observatory on Competition Policy. In the field of research, Prof. Santaló focuses on the fields of Corporate Strategy and Competitive Strategy in Platform Markets. His latest academic publications have been published in journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science or Management Science.
