David G. Sirmon holds a Ph.D. (2004) in Management with emphases on entrepreneurship and strategic management from the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. David Sirmon’s research focuses on the relatively new and fast growing area of strategic entrepreneurship. Building from the resource-based view, it explores the strategies, processes and environmental factors that affect the realization of competitive advantage, wealth creation and retention. An additional area of active research is firm governance with specific interests in family business and boards of directors. His research appears or is forthcoming in the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, Organizational Research Methods, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Management Studies, and Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice among others. An experienced teacher, David Sirmon has taught all levels of university students, with emphasis at the graduate level.
