Lisa Hein joined SMS in 2019 as the managing editor of SMJ, SEJ, and GSJ and is based out of the SMS Executive Office in Chicago. She manages a comprehensive array of pre- and post-publication editorial processes and works with other SMS staff to ensure cohesion with SMS's scholarly publishing program and other SMS member services. She received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and a masters in publishing from Portland State University, where she also served as managing editor for Ooligan Press, an award-winning not-for-profit general trade publisher. Her work there required her to develop and execute editorial tasks for all manuscripts in production and serve as the final say in a title's quality and timeliness. Other professional experience includes roles as an editor for the American Chamber of Commerce Resources and in corporate communications, journalism, and nonprofit development.
