Jackson Nickerson is the Frahm Family Professor of Organization and Strategy at Olin Business School, Washington University in St. Louis. He also is a Nonresident Senior Fellow in Governance Studies at Brookings. Jackson was the Associate Dean and Director of Brookings Executive Education from 2009 to 2017. His research spans a variety of topics in organization and strategy with publications ranging from ASQ, OS, and SMJ, to MS and JPE. Jackson was a co-creators of Critical Thinking@Olin, which won the inaugural MBA Innovator’s Award from the MBA Roundtable. He shares his approach to teaching critical thinking through the Curriculum Development Series at AACSB. With AACSB he created Leading in the Academic Enterprise, a series of leadership development seminars for academic administrators from assistant deans to provosts. He also frequently collaborates with the Center for Homeland Defense and Security. Recipient of 20 teaching awards from undergraduates and executives alike, he received the 2003 State of Missouri Governor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. Author of four books on strategic leadership in government, Jackson holds a Ph.D. in Business and Public Policy, an M.B.A., and a Master of M.S. Engineering, all from University of California, Berkeley, and a B.S. in Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Before entering academia, he was an engineer with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
