Anil K. Gupta is the INSEAD Chaired Professor of Strategy and is based at the Institute’s campus in Singapore. He is also the Michael Dingman Chair in Global Strategy and Entrepreneurship (on leave) at the Smith School of Business, The University of Maryland at College Park. His awards for excellence in research and teaching include the Glueck Best Paper Award in Business Policy & Strategy from the Academy of Management, the Best Paper (Runner Up) Award from the Academy of International Business, and the Allen J. Krowe Award for Excellence in Teaching from the University of Maryland. He is the author or coauthor of over 70 papers and four books: Getting China and India Right (Jossey-Bass/Wiley, 2009), The Quest for Global Dominance (Jossey-Bass/Wiley, 2008), Smart Globalization (Jossey-Bass/Wiley, 2003), and Global Strategy and Organization (John Wiley, 2003). He serves as a regular columnist for BusinessWeek. His opinion pieces have also appeared in Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, Chief Executive, China Daily, and The Economic Times. Economist magazine named him as one of the world’s “rising superstars” in a 2010 special report on “Innovation in Emerging Economies.” He is a Fellow of the Academy of International Business and also the 2009-2010 Division Chair for the Academy of Management’s International Management Division. Anil Gupta was elected as a member of the SMS Fellows in 2010.
