Vanessa Burbano is an Assistant Professor of Management in the strategy area at Columbia Business School. She researches the strategic implications of socially responsible (and irresponsible) firm practices; in particular, how they influence employees. Her research has been recognized with awards including those from the Strategic Management Society (Honorable Mention for Best Paper, 2012), the Alliance for Research on Corporate Sustainability (Best Paper Awards, 2017, 2018), the Impact for Investment Research Prize (2017) and the Berkeley Sustainable Business and Investment Forum (Best Paper Award, 2017). Her research has been featured in Forbes, Fortune, and the New York Times. She holds a Ph.D. from UCLA Anderson School of Management and an M.P.A. from Princeton University's Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs. Prior to academia, she worked as an Associate at Goldman Sachs and as a Strategy Consultant at Monitor Group.
