Sheryl Winston Smith is Associate Professor of Strategy and Entrepreneurship at BI Norwegian Business School. She received her Ph.D. from Harvard University and her B.S. from Yale University. She has served as Track Chair in the Knowledge & Innovation Interest Group for the SMS Banff Special Conference, Representative-at-Large, and co-organizer of the pre-conference workshop at SMS Annual Meeting in Madrid. Her research examines innovation strategy; corporate venture capital and knowledge search; knowledge-intensive entrepreneurship; and prior knowledge in organizational performance. Her research is published and presented widely. She has fellowships and grants from the National Science Foundation and Kauffman Foundation, and she received the Kauffman Foundation Best Paper Award. She is on the editorial board of Journal of International Business Studies. She was on the faculty at the Fox School of Business and carried out postdoctoral work at University of Minnesota and MIT. Her professional experience includes advisory board membership and co-founder of a venture incubator.
