Luz Maria Rivas is a full professor in Universidad EAFIT, Medellín, Colombia. Is PH.D in Administration, MSc. in Administration, MBA, and studied Economics. Her Doctoral thesis was awarded as Magna Cum Laude. She coordinates the Academic area of Strategy in EAFIT Business School. Also, she teaches Business Policy for undergraduates and Strategy graduate courses in the MBA, Masters or Innovation and Knowledge Management, Masters on Risk Management in EAFIT. In addition, she is visiting professor at Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Tunja, Colombia, giving the Organizational Strategy MBA Course. Her research interest is strategy, specifically, Multibusiness Strategy, Corporate Management (Synergies and Headquarters) and Strategy as Practice. She has published two books: “Decisiones corporativas: ilusiones de la sinergia y horizontes de la complejidad” and "Conocimiento gerencial El caso de una empresa multinegocios: Suramericana." Besides, she has published in well-known Latin American Journals,and has served as a reviewer in some of those journals too. Before becoming a researcher, she worked as manager in Suramericana, a Latin american leader insurance company, and also participated as a board member in private companies and business associations. She also has higher education management experience as Dean of a Managerial Economics School and Administrative and Finance Director at Universidad Autónoma de Manizales.
