Bennet A. Zelner (Ph.D., University of California, Berkeley, 2001) is an Associate Professor of Logistics, Business and Public Policy at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business. He studies two related topics at the intersection of strategic management and public policy: how multinational firms manage the risks and opportunities arising from changes in the policy environment, and why national governments choose to undertake such changes. Most of his work is cross-national and comparative, focusing specifically on infrastructure industries such as electricity and telecommunications that have recently undergone market-oriented reforms such as privatization, deregulation, and liberalization. His research has appeared in several leading journals, including the Strategic Management Journal. Prof. Zelner teaches daytime and executive MBA classes in strategic management and macroeconomics. He also serves on the editorial review board of the Strategic Management Journal, Global Strategy Journal, and Journal of International Business Studies.
