Julia Hautz is professor of strategic management at the University of Innsbruck (Austria). Previously she was professor of strategy at the University of Cologne (Germany) and a visiting scholar at the University of Bath School of Management, and the University of Oxford’s Said Business School. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Innsbruck in Austria. Her research focuses on open strategy and innovation via digital technologies, such as online communities, crowdsourcing and contests. She is also interested in corporate diversification strategies and the role of managers in strategy and innovation. Her work has been published, among others, in Strategic Management Journal, Long Range Planning, Global Strategy Journal, Journal of Product Innovation Management, and Journal of Strategic Information Systems. She has co-edited the first special issue dedicated to open strategy and has organized and held academic symposia and panels on openness in strategy processes. Her research has been awarded with multiple awards including the best paper awards of the Journal of Interactive Marketing, and the Journal of Creativity and Innovation Management.
