Julia Hautz is an Interim Professor of Strategy at the Department of Strategic Management at the University of Cologne, Germany and Assistant Professor at the Department of Strategic Management, Marketing and Tourism, University of Innsbruck, Austria. She studied International Economic & Business and Business Administration at the University of Innsbruck. She finished her dissertation under the auspices of the Austrian Federal President (Promotion sub auspiciis praesidentis rei publicae), the highest Austrian Academic Award granted. Her research focuses on strategy and innovation. She is interested in contextual antecedents and interdependencies of corporate diversification strategies. Further, she focuses on increased openness in strategy and innovation processes. By adopting a social network perspective as theoretical lens, she explores increased inclusion of external and internal stakeholders based on practices such as e.g. crowdsourcing, online communities or contests. She has been a visiting scholar at the University of Oxford and the University of Bath, UK. Together with Prof. Richard Whittington and Prof. David Seidl she is guest editor of a current Special Issue on Open Strategy in Long Range Planning. Her research has been awarded with multiple awards including the best paper awards of the Journal of Interactive Marketing, and the Journal of Creativity and Innovation Management.
