Renee Rottner is an Assistant Professor in the Technology Management Program at the School of Engineering, University of California - Santa Barbara. Prior to joining UCSB, she was on the faculty at NYU Stern. Her research focuses on innovation, particularly how people mobilize resources and alter institutions to form new ideas and firms. She has won best paper awards from the SMS, the Academy of Management, the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), and the Society for the Advancement of Management Studies. She has written a book on the history of NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope and has published articles in the Academy of Management Journal, Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice, and Organizational Dynamics. Currently, Renee Rottner serves on the editorial board of the Strategic Management Journal and the AoM-BPS research committee. She has been an active member of SMS and the Knowledge & Innovation IG since 2007, and has been a reviewer for the Best Conference PhD Paper Prize since 2012.
