Christoph Lechner is a Chaired Professor of Strategic Management at the University of St. Gallen, Director of its Institute of Management & Strategy, and Academic Director of its “Master in General Management”. He has written five books and published his research in outlets such as Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Management, Strategy Science, Journal of Management Studies, Long Range Planning, MIT Sloan Management Review, Wall Street Journal, Harvard Business Manager, among others. He is member of the Editorial Boards of Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management Studies, Long Range Planning, and Journal of Strategy & Management. Co-authored papers won the “Best Conference Paper Prize” at the Strategic Management Conferences, as well as the “Sumantra Ghoshal Research and Practice Award” at the Academy of Management. He has consulted and educated companies on strategic management challenges such as Allianz, Altana, Danaher, Daimler, Siemens, Banco Santander, Danaher, Novartis, Oracle, UBS, and Zürich Insurance. Besides his academic activities, he is a member of the board of “Helvetia” (insurance) and was 18 years Vice Chairman/ member of the Board of “Hügli” (food). His current research interests are in alliances, digital platforms, business ecosystems, and corporate strategy.
